Coronavirus in the Philately Worldwide

 

In a time of uncertainty and danger, related to the menace of the COVID-19 pandemic, every country responds to it. And the philately world is not an exception. Many countries issued special stamps related to the fight against the virus. The sad period of the global COVID-19 pandemic just cannot go unnoticed in philately.

Some collectors even decided to form a collection specifically related to the COVID-19: stamps with the doctors, military personnel, rescuers, and volunteers, standing on the frontline fighting against the pandemic.

More than two dozen countries have already issued postage stamps, supporting doctors in their struggle with the corona, including China, Iran, Uruguay, Switzerland, Burundi, and many others. As some experts say, post offices worldwide help us to get through difficult times of pandemics. And behind each stamp, there are the sincere words “Thank you!” 

So, here’s a short overview of the world COVID-19 postage stamps.

Iran

The National heroes postage stamp was released on March 17, 2020. It shows medical workers wearing a protective mask and a symbolic graphic representation of the COVID-19 virus.

Vietnam

Postage stamps "United forces against COVID-19". Released on March 31, 2020.

The stamps illustrate units fighting the pandemic - medical workers, soldiers, and police, as well as ordinary citizens and volunteers. There are also scientists creating the vaccine and preventative drugs to fight the virus.

China

Postage stamps "The tribute to veterans". These stamps were issued in honor of the coronavirus fighters and in the memory of those who died from it. The miniatures show people in protective clothing and a combat unit. The Chinese post office issued this stamp on April 7, 2020. The original project was not approved first, but still it was published. Later the postage stamps illustrators redesigned it and prepared a new one. The new issue was released on May 11.

Spain

 A Tribute To Health. The Philatelic Association in Calahorra issued a stamp "Thanks for the work of the people who are responsible for our health during these difficult days". This stamp shows the hospital building in Calahorra.

Switzerland

Postage stamp in the honor of solidarity with those suffering from COVID-19. This postage stamp was issued in sheets consisting of 10 stamps depicting the symbols of the medical cross, people with their hands raised, and a call for solidarity in four languages.

Indonesia

Postage stamps "Give Corona no chance! Stay home!" However, these postage stamps have not been confirmed by the postal administration, so be careful

Lebanon

Victory over the Coronavirus. These stamps were released in July 2020. The postage stamp shows a hand in a fist, sticking out of a Globe surrounded by the virus. However, this issue has not been confirmed by the Lebanese postal administration yet.

Ireland

Irish postal administration released postcards where you can write a cheering message to your family or friends and send them by mail for free.

The Isle of Man

The Isle of Man post office issued a series of eight stamps, supporting doctors fighting the COVID-19. The stamps illustrate people's unity on the events caused by the coronavirus, emphasizing that the most important things now are love, faith, care, compassion, and work. The stamp also marks people who contribute to the fight against this disease - doctors, scientists, volunteers, teachers. They treat patients, develop vaccines, and teach children. The stamps demonstrate the people's determination to continue the fight against the coronavirus.

Germany

Several private city postal services issued their postage stamps calling for compliance with the measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19.

Croatia

Liechtenstein
