Quadruple-rate red band cover to KALGAN, addressed in Chinese on front with destination stencilled in Russian in red on reverse. Franked on reverse pair & single 10k 1889-92 issue, representing 2k overpaid. Stamps cancelled URGA Type 4 dated 3 XII 1905.

Vertical line of Chinese on reverse gives date as "12th month, 2nd day". Chinese chops sealing flaps at top and bottom indicate confidentiality and importance of letter respectively.

For reasons unknown the 10k 1889-92 issue was rarely used in Mongolia.
